Lisbon Off-The-Beaten-Path & Hidden Viewpoints

6 min read

Location

Lisbon, Portugal

Best Time to Visit

April – June, September

Vibe Rating

★★★★☆

Everyone climbs to the famous viewpoints. Fewer people keep climbing past them, up stairways that smell of laundry and grilled sardines, until the city spreads out beneath you in terracotta and gold.

The trick to Lisbon is to get lost on purpose. Pick a hill, follow the tram tracks, then abandon them. The best pastel de nata I have ever eaten came from a shop with no sign at all.

Go at golden hour. Bring nothing but a bottle of vinho verde and someone you like talking to.
